Mannarasala Sree Nagaraja Temple is one of the blessed shrines renowned internationally. The temple located 32km away from Alappuzha is dedicated to Nagaraja, the serpent God. 1. Water Sports in Varkala – Varkala is a beautiful coastal town in the Thiruvananthapuram district. It lies in the southern part of Kerala. It is the only place in Kerala where the hills come close to the sea. The uniqueness of the place is the merging of cliffs with the Arabian Sea. Varkala Beach is a popular beach where you can enjoy various water sports activities such as para-sailing and paragliding.
2. Varkala Beach – Set amid a beautiful setting about 10 km away from the calm and quiet hamlet of Varkala in Kerala, Varkala Beach, also known as Papanasam Beach, is a beautiful stretch of sand renowned for its solitude unlike other commercial beaches of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The backdrop Arabian Sea against the cliffs of Kerala is a unique one since these sedimentary formation peaks are not found anywhere in the otherwise flat coastline of Kerala.

The beach itself is divided into two parts, the southern area of the beach lying at the end of the road leading from Janardhana Swamy Temple regarded as sacred by Hindus.        6. Sivagiri Mutt – Located at Varkala in Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala is one of the popular ashrams of Shri Narayana Guru, Sivagiri Mutt. This ashram celebrates Guru Deva Jayanti (in August) and the Guru Deva Samadhi (in September) every year. Janardhana Swami Temple and Varkala Beach are some nearby attractions that one should never miss during their visit to Sivagiri Mutt. Sree Narayana Guru (1855-1928), a saint, social reformer, philosopher, and leader of the Ezhava community, made Varkala his headquarters. Sivagiri mutt, instituted by Sree Narayana Guru, is another major pilgrim center here. The ‘Sivagiri Pilgrimage’ is usually conducted between 30th December and 1st January every year. Even decades after the Guru breathed his last breath here in 1928; his Samadhi (resting place) continues to be thronged by thousands of pilgrims. The Sivagiri Mutt is also the headquarters of the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Sangham, a religious organization established by the Guru to propagate his concept of ‘One Caste, One Religion, and One God’.

POOVER: Poovar is a small rustic town situated 27 km from Thiruvananthapuram with unspoiled, unexplored golden sand beaches and beautiful backwaters of Kerala.

Hiring a boat, (especially during the sunset) that will take you through the mangrove forest of backwaters is a must-do activity. The boat ride costs around INR 3000- INR 4000. The town has some beautiful resorts and hotels that are known for the hospitality they offer.

Poovar beach is secluded and is only accessible by boat. Swimming is allowed here throughout the year except for the monsoon months

1. Poovar Beach: A stunning beach with golden sand and gentle breeze nestled between the gorgeous River Neyyar and the Arabian Sea. The swaying coconut palms add to the beauty of this picture-perfect beach which is only accessible via a water taxi alone. Offering perfect environs for relaxing and unwinding, the beach does not indulge in water sports due to the active fishing population.
2. Thirparappu Falls – Located at a distance of about 55 kilometers from Kanyakumari, the cascading waters of the Tirparappu Falls make up for an enchanting sight. The dam is built over the Karamanathodu River, a confluent of the Kabini River. The dam was built to support the hydroelectric power project of the Kakkayam region. Today the dam is one of Wayanad’s best places and is a favorite tourist destination too.
5.  JAIN TEMPLE – Jain Temple at Sultan Bathery is assumed to have been constructed in the 13th century AD. The temple is situated in the heart of Bathery town and confirms the presence of Jainism in the region during ancient times. This heritage was taken over by Tipu Sultan to hide during the war period.  At present, the Archaeological Survey of India looks after the monument considering its historical prominence. The temple built in the Vijayanagar style of construction is attractive with the huge granite pillars with carvings.
6. THIRUNELLI TEMPLE – Thirunelli Temple is set on the backdrop of the charming Brahmagiri mountain region and is on the ancient temples devoted to Lord Vishnu. The temple is also known as Sahyamala Kshetram and is surrounded by forests and mist-covered hills. The Kashi of South, Thirunelli temple is the only temple where devotees can carry out rituals that relate from birth, death, and life after death. The Papanasini River lies closer to the temple. Kanyakumari – Bordered by the three seas – Arabian, Indian, and the Bay of Bengal; Kanyakumari is the southernmost tip of the Indian Peninsula. A small coastal town in the state of Tamil Nadu, Kanyakumari was earlier known as Cape Comorin. The town is a mountainous terrain amid three seas, with elevated patches of hills, coconut trees, and lined with paddy fields. Kanyakumari is also the only place in India where you can observe the sunrise and sunset at the same beach.

     2. Vivekananda Rock – The magnificent Vivekananda Rock Memorial is located on a small island off Kanyakumari. It has the picturesque Indian Ocean in its backdrop and hence serves as a peaceful and serene destination for visitors from all across the globe. It is situated on one of the two adjacent rocks projecting out of the Lakshadweep Sea and comprises the ‘Shripada Mandapam’ and the ‘Vivekananda Mandapam’. The ferry ride up to these rock islands is a thrilling journey and hence attracts a lot of nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts.

This statue depicts the spectacular architecture and was built in the year 1970 and has been a major tourist attraction ever since. The island on which the statue is located is said to have been the site where Vivekananda attained enlightenment.     3. Thanumalayan Temple -Situated in Suchindram, Thanumalay temple is also known as Sthanumalayan Kovil is the sacred shrine dedicated to Trimuthis (Bramha, Vishnu, and Shiva). The beautiful temple was renovated in the 17th century, and its inscriptions date back to the 9th century.

This beautiful temple represents great architectural magnificence. One of the major highlights of this temple is the four musical pillars carved out of a single stone placed in the alankara mandapam area. These musical pillars emit a variety of musical notes when struck with a thumb. Another striking aspect of the Sthanumalayan Perumal Temple is that it depicts both Shaivite and Vaishnavite sections of Hinduism.

      4. Thiruvalluvar Statue – Dedicated to the accomplished philosopher and poet Thiruvalluvar, this beautiful statue finds itself on a small island near Kanyakumari. Thiruvalluvar was the author of a legendary work in the world of Literature, Tirukkural, and the classic Tamil text. In his devotion, the work for the statue started in 1990 and continued till 1999, during the year in which the figure finally got completed.

       5. Padmanabhapuram Palace- Padmanabhapuram Palace in Tamil Nadu is one of the most exquisite palaces of India that symbolize the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the country that has been around for many centuries aptly.
